MONITOR - Solids Flow Sensor 
​

Microwave Solids Flow Monitors Models SFD-2 & SFMonitor's line of microwave solids flow monitors are high quality, industrial grade instruments capable of providing a signal indicating the flow/no-flow condition of solids and powders in gravity chutes, feeders and pneumatic pipelines. The Model SFD-2 Solids Flow Detector provides relay outputs that can be setup to indicate changes in the target flow stream (on/off). The Model SFI Solids Flow Indicator provides an analog output which varies with changing conditions of the material flow stream. These non-contact monitors contain no moving parts or probes that can wear out or break off in the material flow, thus ensuring process integrity. 

The SFD-2 and SFI use low power microwaves to sense motion within the chute or pipeline being monitored. Microwaves are virtually unaffected by ambient noise and light, heat, humidity, pressure, vacuum, high or low temperatures or dust. This provides maximum effectiveness in typical industrial application environments. These advantages over sonic or mechanical flow monitors make microwave technology the best choice for solids flow monitoring.

MONITOR - Broken Bag Detector 
DustAlarm® Broken Bag Detector 18-8411 (Particle Emission Detector) provides a reliable and economical detection of leaks & filter failures in many powder / bulk solids industries

The DustAlarm® is successfully utilized in a wide variety of applications where detection of dust levels is critical either to safety, maintenance, equipment operation, plant efficiency and /or the environment.  The DustAlarm® measures the triboelectric effect to determine when particle emissions exceed acceptable levels.

The DustAlarm® Broken Bag Detector incorporates visual indications and a relay output to maximize its user-friendliness and automation capabilities.  A reference point is set by the sensitivity control adjustment, aided by the tri-colour LED.  The alarm point is set by an alarm level control adjustment.  The relay output can be used to activate an alarm device or can be integrated into a control system to enhance the overall operation of the dust collector.

Bin Aeration

When cement or other fine powdered materials are first conveyed into a storage silo or bin, it is actually a highly aerated mixture of air and particulate and in this state it flows quite readily.

However, as the cement or other powder settles the solid particulate and air separate resulting in a decrease in volume and an increase in bulk density. In this de-aerated state powders behave more like a single large solid structure rather than a fluid-like mixture. This can result in bridging and rat hole formation, both of which prevent smooth flow. 

By replacing the naturally lost air through aeration, the air to particulate mixture ratio can be maintained, thus maintaining the fluid like characteristic of the aerated powder

MONITOR - Evasser

The Evasser can discharge air up to 80 psi (5.5 bar) to move settled materials. Once material is flowing the Evasser can be used to maintain flowability of material with a constant 2 to 5 psi (0.14 to 0.35 bar) supply of air

Overfill Protection

SiloGuard System

CMC Silo Guard system protects & prevents:

  • silo over filling
  • discharge from tanker truck into incorrect fill pipe
  • product loss
  • clean up costs
  • potential filter vent & silo damage
  • possible environmental fines for atmospheric contamination

​ How it works:
  • ​Standard control panel for 1-6 silos
  • Arm CMC Silo Guard System to allow only selected silo to be filled, closing the valves to other silos attached to system
  • Alarm sounds when silo reaches full condition
  • system shut down light flash
  • timer begins to count down to shut off 
  • After a line purge time of 3 minutes (settable), flow control valve attached to fill pipe for silo being filled closes
  • Once line is closed, no more material can be blown into silo until high level condition no longer exists in silo

Pressure Relief Valve

​A pressure relief valve should be mounted on top of any pneumatically filled silo or bin to provide emergency relief in the event that your bin is over filled or your filter vent becomes plugged.

Mounting a pressure relief valve on top of your silo will provide protection against equipment damage when an over fill or filter vent plugging occurs.

Our pressure relief valve provides pressure relief when the internal pressure of the silo exceeds 1 psi, or a vacuum condition of more than negative .25 psi exists.

Dangers of Overfilling Silo:
  • Over filling or over pressurizing of silo can cause severe damage
  • Filter bags may split/burst
  • Filter vent may split open, doors may be blown off
  • In an extreme case a silo seam may split raising its roof or opening its side
